NiTi-Cu exhibits considerably smaller loading forces for the same level of deformation as other types of archwire, allowing for significantly easier slot engagement in patients who present with severe malocclusions ultimately leading to greater patient comfort and reducing the chances of resorption. Efficient, consistent force delivery of optimal tooth moving forces is the result of a reduction in hysteresis and a supine unloading curve, an effect of adding copper to the wire, providing a much longer activation period. NiTi-Cu is available in three different forms which allow the clinician to tailor treatment plans to suit the need of each individual patient.
