The extraction of the mandibular third molar is the most frequent intervention in oral surgery and it is sometimes associated with less or more severe complications. The choice of the surgical instruments is not random but it is an integral part of the method. In addition to standard surgery tools (scalpel, retractor, forceps for tissues, needle holder, rongeur), the tray for surgical extraction of impacted teeth includes some dedicated tools too.

Scalpel Handle round - Used for holding microsurgical scalpel blade. The tip of the handle is slotted for blade placement.

Periosteal Elevator Molt No.9 - Wide sharp blade for reflecting & retracting the mucoperiosteum.

Bone File Miller Col-burn - Cross-cut bone file is used for final smoothening & shaping of bone with 8.1 mm & 4.8 mm wide working ends.

Osteotome Chisel 4mm - Straight, the distal end is sharp for cutting bone.

Heidbrink Left Root Elevator - Very fine double-ended tool for removing splinters from root tips & hard to reach areas.

Heidbrink Right Root Elevator - use on right side.

Frazier Suction Tube 3mm - Tube attached to a suction system manipulated by the surgeon for evacuation of blood, fluids & other tissue debris from the surgical site.

Cryer Left Root Elevator - Triangle-shaped elevator is most useful when a broken root remains in the tooth socket & the adjacent socket is empty.

Cryer Right Root Elevator - Use on right side

Suture Scissors Heath - Non Ratcheted finger ring instrument, used for removing sutures.

Adson tooth forceps 15cm - For Holding & Manipulating delicate tissues.

The needle holder 160mm - Used to hold fine suture needles in very small sites or microsurgical procedures.

Austin Retractor Fork - Used to hold mucoperiosteal flaps, cheeks, lips, tongue away from surgical areas.

Hemostatic Forceps Mosquito - Surgical tool used in surgical procedure to control bleeding.

Towel forceps Backhaus - Perforating clamp used for grasping tissue, securing towels or drapes holding or reducing the small bone fracture

Coleman straight - Elevator used to loosen or remove dental roots, fragments.

Coupland Root Elevator - Used as a straight elevator. To elevate free gingiva from all around the tooth prior to force application.

Bone Rongeur Mead - Used for handling or cutting small bones.

Periosteal Howarth - Double-ended instrument used in elevation of mucoperiosteum.
